Saying you speak "hangeul" is like saying you speak "the alphabet" or "the Al-abjadiyah" or "the Devanagari". Hangeul is the system of letters used to write Korean. 한국어 hangugeo (Sino-Korean) or 한국말 hangugmal (pure Korean) are the terms for the Korean language itself - WHAT is actually being spoken or written.
