How to Lock & Unlock Whirlpool Washing Machine

How to unlock and lock keys and buttons for Whirlpool FFB 8458 BV EE 859991636970 Washing Machine. To lock the control panel, press and hold the Key lock button for approximately 3 seconds. The key symbol will light up on the display to indicate that the control panel has been locked, but with the exception of the ON and OFF buttons. This prevents unintentional changes to programs, especially with children near the machine. This is safe child lock.

If anyone got the red lock and can’t open the door, try to open the hatch down at floor that you can turn open to get out water of machine. Something might have got stuck in debris. And then the washing machine can’t get the water out and it will lock the hatch, so water can’t flood out.

The Whirlpool washer door is open the light is on key lock and you cannot use the washing machine because it will not come on

This is the child lock feature and has nothing to do with the door being locked (stuck - red lock symbol).
