This is a really beautiful rendition of this song, but I can't help but wonder how this Yiddish Singer came to be on this Mongolian tv show? I also wonder if the people in the audience were given a translation, otherwise they missed all the fun of the Mongolian tsimbolim and fidler taking their cues from the song.

Amalia Rubin while you're in Mongolia you should check out Birobidzhan, the Jewish Autonomous Region. It is very close to Mongolia and probably the source of the Jewish/Mongolian interaction you describe in your video. I had relatives that moved there from Belarus in the early 1900s. Very interesting history, which you would probably appreciate, given your studies.
