This is probably the last place I would have expected to see his gravesite :-) Really enjoyed and learned so much on this trip, Jeff & Sarah!

I never realized Ripley was from Santa Rosa. My uncle was featured in one of his books back in the 40’s. While working on railroad construction in Nevada, an large drill bit slipped and went through his chest barely missing his heart. He was conscious the whole time they drove him in to town, froze the area around it and twisted it back out. He even counted the number of turns it took to remove it.. He lived for many years after with no problems. It is amazing to imagine all the things Ripley saw doing his work.

Thank you Jeff and Sara, the grave stones have held up so well they make that cemetery special. It is too bad that the grounds are so overgrown. And Jeff, you are a pretty interesting guy, I imagine alot of people will remember you fondly for your life accomplishents.

Hey Guys, thanks for pointing out and telling a bit of history on Robert Ripley. I remember as a kid reading about Ripley’s Believe it or not. Sad to see a cemetery neglected like that. Thanks from Down Under.

That was kind of puzzling . Modest burial for such famous man. Good video. The soldiers were interesting too

That was facinating, I grew up in Petaluma and never knew Ripley grew up in Santa Rosa. Sad the cemetery is in such bad shape but to me better that than put in a wall after death. I love your videos and it is fun to watch Sarah meander around finding interesting stuff. You both make history more fun to learn. Thanks

My Dad had his first hardback book. I can't tell you how many times I read it in my growing up years. Now my son has it so I can look at it again.

When I was a young Marine station at El Toro I had a date with a girl who had teeth like his, You can believe that or not. :) she was a nice person but we had nothing in common, Now and then I wonder what has happened to her, as well as many other people that I knew in those days. I lived off base in Stanton. near Knotts Berry Farm. I spent a lot of my free time on the beaches or driving my pickup all over. That was in 1977, 78. My sister lived in Pasadena. my parents in Pomona. I was in Westwood dancing every Sunday night when the disco was big. since I was a night time security guard at El Toro, my duty was midnight to 6 AM Monday nights to Sat. morning. I had lots of free time. In those days I needed little sleep. and had a part-time job 3 days a week to give me enough money to have a fun time, Thank you for the Video. and the memories that come back to me when you put them up on you-tube.

Ripley's B.I.O.N was one of my favorites in the newspaper when I was a kid. Very sad that a nice cemetery like that is not kept up. Another interesting monumental video by you guys... Thanks.
