I had the opposite problem of not realising exactly how poor we were. In the evenings we would sometimes stop by the hotel where my dad worked as a waiter. Until I was 5, I thought we were the hotel owners.

I love how most of these kids aren't spoiled brats. Like, that one guy wanted to pay back his parents for all they had done... these parents did a good job raising good human beings.
