Here is the problem with the gaming industry:

They hire a bunch of woke women. Then they make games that appeal to them, not us. Then they laugh about it. They tell us, "If you don't like it, don't buy it." And when their games fail, they blame us.

Notice they didn’t replace Aloy with a male protagonist after the success of HZD. Yet they replace Jin with a female protagonist after the success of GOT. Then on top of that they cast a radical, far left activist to voice the character. Then there are rumors of SBI involvement. Yeah, gamers notice things like this and it throws up red flags. Maybe the game will be excellent. I hope it is. But generally when the woke activists get their claws into something they run it promptly into the ground.

I'm a chef and can say from personal experience that when dealing with marketing people at the very least, "we need to reach a modern/wider audience" really just means "I don't know how to market to anyone besides myself, let's market to my self-insert instead". It's probably the biggest reason that they get so defensive when you criticize their self-insert marketing, because they're taking it personally.

Tsushima was a massive hit here in Japan it is the opposite of what that guy was saying he has 0 clue it sold so well in fact here in Japan it was off the shelf many times in many stores. yodabashi, Geo Tsutaya all seemed to be sold out for months. No one wants AC shadows as it has to many problems with everything inculding adding in chinses buildings and structures. And now i am slowly seeing a turn off for yotei as well. We wanted a 2nd part for Jins story on the main land with Jin marry Yuna who saved his life and was by his side and even taught him the ways of the ghost as well as started the story. They could have started a group of ghosts and then had kids to carry on the legacy.
