Having family who went to both: Georgetown is a bit more liberal artsy, UCLA more full-university experience. Except for the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown, UCLA has more opportunities. However, the real clincher is that UCLA is on the opposite coast from your home. The adventure of setting off to a new and radically different place from your hometown is an essential element of a great college experience (and, frankly, growing up). Good luck & enjoy!

Yayyy congrats! You can’t go wrong with either, but being able to move away from home for college is an incredible learning experience. And, of course, I’m guessing UCLA makes a little bit more sense financially since Georgetown gave you no aid at all lol. I don’t even know you, but I’m happy for you. You seem very sweet and kind :)

As somebody who has lived in LA for a good time, placing it in the cons and pros made me laugh, but it was understandable. CONGRATS ON committing to UCLA.

Ayyy. I had the choice between Georgetown and UCLA as well in 2020. Since I am an instate student, it made a lot more sense for me to stay in LA. Congrats btw!! UCLA is an awesome school

HAHAH we kinda went opposite paths — I’m from California and chose to go to Georgetown next year over my UC acceptances because I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay here my whole life. You’re going to have a great time in California, the weather is great :)

Wow, about to graduate from UCLA in a month and this came up on my page :) Has been an amazing experience overall. The campus is gorgeous, there's so many people to meet and things to do, generally people are just friendly and inspiring. It's super hard for so many reasons, but in the best way! I've grown up so much having to navigate my way through a large school with not a ton of hand-holding, and I'm so much better off for it. And it's just been so fun!! Also, I've learned like an insane amount of shit. I look back on the knowledge I came in with freshman year and I'm just baffled by how much I've learned in my time here. And yes the dorm + food life is pretty sweet.

This is for the best, I think. UCLA has a more solid reputation than Georgetown (which, to be clear, doesn’t mean it is a better school, only that the name [or brand, firm, call it the way you want] is stronger).

I can feel your excitement, I am myself starting a new adventure in the Fall: PhD at Columbia University :)
