DON’T Buy This - 4K 240Hz Samsung QD OLED G8 Monitor
Samsung Electronics has in my opinion severely compromised the image quality of the fantastic QD OLED displays produced by Samsung Display in their upcoming OLED G8 and G6 monitors by applying a matte finish which will unfortunately lead to a less vibrant and clear monitor when compared to the other companies like MSI, Gigabyte, or ASUS selling the same fantastic display with the flawed, but still good glossy QD OLED finish used on the amazing Samsung S90C, S95C, and now S90D TVs.

This channel has singlehandedly radicalized me into hating mat displays. lol

I prefer not looking into a mirror at the PC monitor. I choose matte.

This guy has biased views in his coverage. Matte coatings seriously do not look as bad as he claims. I get that it's not going to be as clear as glossy but it's not a night and day difference either. I personally prefer the matte panels as the reflections on glossy ruin the experience for me.

this guy reviews monitors without even having them

4min video for one simple line: it‘s matte and that looks bad.

Matte for me, hate the background reflection on the glossy monitors. For each their own

you have to see it with your own eyes. I was also unsettled by YouTube. The prejudice comes from the first oled monitor LG 27GR95QE. It's really milky matte. This one from Samsung is more of a semi-matte finish. I bought it because of an unbeatable offer and I don't see anything oily at all. I had the Asus before. in some moments, I saw my glasses reflected. so I sent it back. you really have to test it yourself

Considering these monitors are mostly aimed at gamers, the need for a matte finish because of working / office environments with bright lights will be minimal. I doubt many people are getting OLEDs primarily for work purposes. LG should just use the same finish on their TVs as they do on the WOLED monitors.

Cant stand light reflection on my S95B so im keeping my eye on this one, tho really wish LG's flexible 4k 39 inch was coming out this year.

This is not classic matte finish, this is oled glare free from samsung specially for oled panels.

I just don't understand why it takes so long for people to realize matte coatings are awful for clarity. I knew it right away after getting the NEC 20WMGX2 in like 2005 or whatever. Anyone serious about image quality is going to control the lighting in their environment too.

Got a glossy oled g9 from samsung, great picture, no complaints, but boy, do I need samsung to put that finish they put on the s24 ultra on their displays.
For anyone thinking about buying oled and reading this, do not underestimate how reflective glossy finishes are.
Yeah the pic is better but even behind a curtain a window will be bright enough to constantly reflect in your monitor and its distracting as heck.
I could turn up the brightness to notice it less but I aint damaging my oled by running at flashbang levels 24/7 just cause it masks the reflections.
Ultimately I dont mind cause I darken my room when gaming anyway, but if you dont, dont let yourself be talked out of matte/anti-reflective coatings.
Compare the coatings. Some barely worsen the image but block so much reflections(the s24 ultra for example).

I tested the previous OLED G8, and I'm glad they made it matte, awful reflections on all the glossy screens is a total dealbreaker.

They need to start using gorilla glass from the 24 Ultra.

Glossy on OLED is a must. I have the ASUS PG27AQDM and I hate it with the Matte Finish. I find myself using the LG C2 over it

I'm blocking this channel. Sick of your matte complaints. It's getting old. Matte is the only screen compatible with my room.

my first oled monitor was the asus pg27aqdm and man i hated that matte coating, whites and like sky blues looked so grainy and dirty, once i saw the grain i couldnt unsee it, (not all matte coatings are the same, iknow) now i have the Asus pg32ucdm and man the differance is night and day, it looks so clear, more vibrant and the colors just pops more, i can control my lighting so reflections and raised blacks is a non issue

I've bought the Samsung Odyssey g6 360hz oled and the screen looks absolutely brilliant.I can compare it to my oled c1 tv and they both look amazing. Unfortunately there's no decent reviews on it yet to get a good judgment on it other than my own. Im far from an expert but i can't see anything at all wrong with the screen or the coating on the screen 🤔
