Are we headed toward a cashless society?

And what do we use when there is a glitch in the payment system ? In Australia there are long distances between fill ups in the outback, so no signal no fuel ⛽ . . but I can trade the Mrs. for some fuel !

Going cashless is fiscally irresponsible. Why do thing casinos use chips? It gives the impression that its not real money. Also, when you go cashless you are involving a 3rd party intermediary - the government.

They should get it to where you can scan your bottle slips and winning lottery tickets on your phone then that money could show up in your bank account the next day instead of being paid in cash

Mostly use a debit card. Rarely pay cash for anything anymore. Occasionally may write a check. 😉
