The fact that he was the happiest when he wasn’t Spider-Man really goes to show just HOW much he sacrificed to be a hero..

The fact he throws it in the trash in he exact same ally where he discovered his powers in the first movie is such a nice detail

The brilliance of it is that Peter isn’t really making a wrong decision here. He is right when he says that he can’t spend his life living another person’s dream. Which is why the rest of the movie is about him finding HIS OWN reason for wanting to be Spider-Man. The old Spidey, the one driven by pain and guilt, is indeed “no more”, never to be seen again. When Peter chooses to don the suit again, his decision is not driven by self loathing, it is driven by love.

This is the best Spidey version in my opinion. He's brilliant but broke, troubled relationships and villains trying to make his life even more miserable..

When this first came out when I was 5, I didn’t understand why he lost his powers I thought he ran out of webs but as a 22 year old man, I started to relate to this movie a lot especially the character that is Peter from the comics to
this movie. Physical health is important but if what’s up there isn’t functioning well, the rest that is physical won’t do well, he was clearly depressed/anxious from the things happening all around him, from losing his best-friend due to Spider-Man, losing the love of his life because of Spider-Man and the fear of endangering the ones he loves because of Spider-Man, the character that is Peter Parker was, in my opinion, portrayed well in this movie.

One thing I’ve learned from Spider-Man especially this movie is that life is all about choices and sometimes we’ll have to let go of what made us comfortable, safe or feel good in order to grow.

Music from 3:11 to 3:35 always gives me chills. What an incredible scene.

I kinda wonder if that doctor ever made the connection about that strange patient's visit and then spider man disappearing, like he was walking into the office one day, and then he paused and was like "Wait a minute!"

That doctor totally figured it out. If he reads a newspaper at all, he would see the pictures of Spider-Man get taken by Peter Parker and then connecting that to Peter talking about his friend's dream and peter responding "I have a choice"

I love how "somebody else's dream" is indirectly referencing how the dream of uncle Ben was passed down onto Peter through the words "With great power comes great responsibility".

It wasn't his dream to be a hero, it was Ben's words that echoed in his mind when he first became Soldier Boy in the first movie, I never noticed that little detail until now even if it was immediately touched on in the next scene.

I turned 21 back in April. When I first watched Spider Man 2 with my parents while I was four years old, I cried so much on this part. When it showed that Tobey threw his suit in the trash, I cried and said,
"He's not Spider Man anymore! He's my favorite hero! Who's gonna stop Doc Ock?!" Then my parents said,
"Hey, don't cry. Peter will be Spider Man again. We know he will."

The reason Spiderman is the best super hero is because relatable. I never fought Dr Oc, Rhino, or Electro. I did have troubles with girls, money, and school.

I like how when Peter rejects Ben's hand Ben has a sad smile on his face. He understands that Peter is just overwhelmed and tired of being Spider-man he just wants to be a normal person. While he's sad that Peter doesn't want to continue being a hero part of him is happy that Peter is making his own choice on his current situation. Uncle Ben doesn't denounce him or brush him off, he has tears in his eyes but accepts that's Peter's decision to make.

Peter: I'm Spiderman no more.
Uncle Ben: I offered you friendship BUT YOU SPAT ON MY FACE **punches Peter**

3:30 will never forget that iconic image from the comics where Peter walks away with his suit in the trash can.

I love to think that this doctor was smart enough to figure out that he was helping Spiderman.

I LOVE the musical storytelling here. It’s not some depressing/downwards version of the usual theme, it’s just a more muted one with less grandiosity. In a way this IS the right thing to do and the music communicates that perfectly on its own.

Heartbreaking scene. The sacrifices, the tolls of being a superhero and living a normal life, and losing confidence in who he was just really sad.
