I really have to question why my history professors from junior high to high school, focused so much on this time period. I remember we at least talked about this for days or weeks. Why focus on one period of time that could have been discussed in a few minutes. They completely overlooked the 1918 pandemic and even the war of 1812. If our country was several thousand years long, and we had no way to still just infuse our brain into a computer, then I doubt that we would focus on the great depression. Things were bad of course but to say that everyone in the country suffered is wrong. There were plenty of middle class and even rich people that did get by. Of course many others became poor and destitute. However was it the worst time in the united states of america. I have to question this assumption. I also often think if there is some sort of agenda behind this. Why did the teachers practically say that roosevelt was the greatest president ever. There is clearly an agenda that before the internet, if you didn't find the opposing opinions on this subject, favored democrats and the liberal agenda in these classrooms. Therefore it is easy to ignore the widespread economic effects of the 1918 pandemic and worse things that happened before and specifically afterward in the united states very easy to dismiss and ignore as well. It is fine to disagree with what I say here but the entire world suffered from this world wide pandemic which I barely even heard about. I know it was by accident that I think I heard about it on a television program focusing on history. I don't recall learning about any 1918 pandemic although it clearly effected millions of people. Even more then what happened in world war I since it was a worldwide problem that knocked out people not even in the war at that time. This is just my own opinion.
