Legalism is something we must certainly be on guard against. But we must also be sure that we know just what legalism actually is... or more specifically, what it is not. It is not legalism to tell Christians to stop doing what the Bible tells them to stop doing.

Amen ! Needed this. I did what i wasn’t supposed to do. It’s my fault. Jesus I repent.
Knowing that God wants me to STOP makes me feel better. This is the true gospel.
Repenting means to change your mind !! I messed up earlier, but I’m ready to change.

The reason why I fell short is because someone told me, “we all fall short”

NO LONGER. I understand that I will go to hell if I keep it up. Knowing he truth feels better

Legality is not legalism.

One is the clear and simple governing mandate of God's precepts for grace and mercy, the other is a distortion or addition to what God has revealed as His will for His people.

Matthew 7:21 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Any departure from the truth leads either to legalism, a yoke of bandage, or to antinomianism which deceptively turns grace into lawlessness.

Deuteronomy 4:2 - Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

The simple truth is grace is not God overlooking your failures, rather God's mean of leading you into righteousness and equipping you for the tasks of the calling He has appointed unto you. Grace is for obeience that we continue not longer in sin.

Romans 1:5 - By whom WE HAVE RECEIVED GRACE and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH among all nations, for His name.

1Peter 1:21 - Who by Him do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth [obedience] through [the enabling of] the Spirit [which is grace] unto unfeigned love of the brethren [a witness of holiness, the fruit of righteousness], see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

It is a simply legal truth that "Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

A-men' Brother Tim, thank God for the Brotheren, James, Craig, Jeff & Tim, Stop projecting improper interpretation of legalism onto Bible believing Christians. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16‭-‬17
