Soooo I bet India hasn't crossed many minds as a winter holidays destination, BUT as a country that's so incredibly versatile it's actually really lovely in winter! So here's my best tips if you wanna try it out:

1 North India is your best destination for snow. My favourite place for epic mountain views, which is on my bucketlist to see in the snow, is Himachal Pradesh. It's a perfect 'cozy cabins road trip' destination, and I can't wait to one day wake up there sippin' on my hot cocoa while the snow slowly covers everything in white😍❄️Do check the roads beforehand as they sometimes get closed off during the snow, but I guess that goes for any winter destination. PS Kashmir is apparently stunning in winter too, but as per Dutch government tourism labels it is a red zone as it's still a conflict area. Ladakh roads get mostly closed off in winter, but you can still fly in. Out of the 3 destination options, Himachal Pradesh would be my choice for a first time snow in India.

2 If you hate the cold however Karnataka or Kerala are fantastic! Kerala celebrates Christmas the most I think, but it will def be 28+ degrees so no more freezing your 🍑, and I think you can go for iced cocoa here (it's a very Dutch thing lol). In Karnataka I love the Christmas vibes all over Bengaluru, while the weather is a bit chilly, but never freezing. Pondicherry would also be absolutely amazing for a hot winter holiday, with a very unique blend of Tamil and French cultures.

3 Christmas specifically is not a very big thing in India, compared to the traditional festivals like diwali. However there are places like Kerala where it's celebrated more, and all over Bengaluru you'll find special Christmas/NYE events and brunches. Not sure about Delhi and Mumbai, but mostly the major hotel chains always have something for Christmas/NYE.

Bonus tip: Wayanad and Idukki districts in Kerala have cocoa plantations if you wanna go on a plantation tour. Haven't visited myself, but went to the tea plantations in Munnar which is still one of my fave experiences in India.

The thing that shocked me about Bangalore in winter was that it can feel cold! Had been in Kerala and then landing in Bangalore before flying back home it was a shock to the system 😂 I laugh to myself as am Scottish so should be used to worse cold
