12 = good day pack EDC, ok for a summer over night. 24 = good weekend pack for the mountains. Packed right with water available. Good for 4 days comfortable. 72 = good summit pack. If you want to walk a mountain for a few days.
The Molle makes each one more than meets the eye.

I'm an army medic and carry the 24. The inside of the rush is very similar in function to our M9 Aid Bags in how we organize our medical equipment. Great everyday carry if your medical, can stow away a lot of medical gear unnoticed inside it without interrupting your EDC load out.

If it hasnt been mentioned already - a great option is the MOAB 6 or MOAB 10 bags. I like the MOAB 10 as an EDC bag/get home bag. Both of the MOABs come with buckle straps to either use as sinch straps, or attach to the larger bags as a tier system. So as mentioned by Emanuel EmanuelB, a great option would be to use the MOAB 10 if you want something smaller, and you have to "bug out" or make a trek for an extended time frame, you can attach your EDC bag (MOAB 10) to the Rush 12, and it becomes a much larger pack essentially
