Love the idea of 20 rounds. Means you can do standalone Origin and more rep footy.

It’s crazy now how everyone doesn’t play each other the SAME amount of times. 😂 Some play Storm and Panthers multiple times

How many time are top 4 and top 8 positions decided on just a few points because of this 🤷‍♂️

They should do what they do in Argentinian football. If 20 teams, each team plays 20 games. One against each team (18 games) and 2 against a rival (for example Roosters-Rabbitohs, Dragons-Sharks, Panthers-Eels, Broncos-Dolphins...
Great for the fans, great for broadcasters

Theres not enough talent to have 20 competitive first grade teams...We need at least half a decade of intense junior development system wide at every club before this idea doesnt sound like a ridiculous cash grab

We need more nrl games cause international is gone

Every team playing each other once is a great format.

There was no need to expand the number of teams. The fairest competition was when every team played every other team home and away. We have lost that forever because of greed.

With the new format, maybe they could play the first 10 rounds, take 3 weeks off for the SOO, then play the last 9 rounds and finals 🤔

These 2 are doing a great job, the game has never been better

Peter needs to say Rugby League in every sentence

God I hope PNG dint come in. Would be the worst decision since Super League reared its ugly head. Zero upside for the game. It’s political.

The viewership would increase incredibly in NZ if Origin and NRL games were played slightly earlier. Origin kicks off 10pm NZST. Lots of people don't watch it because it's too late.

More teams was always something i thought would be amazing. But having the panthers win 3 possibly 4 straight. the last 7 premierships being won by 3 teams most likely last 8. And if the sharks do win it, then the last 9 premierships have been won by 4 teams.
With 20 teams it will mean more supporters will wait multiple decades for their team to win one(I think it will make it more special for them) But increases the chances of going a lifetime with never seeing your team make a grand final let alone win one.
And I for some reason I find that heartbreaking specially when you see older fans who follow their whole life.
I’m sure they have their memories of a good win or classic game but to miss opportunity to ever see your team on the biggest stage.

They could definitely shorten the season and the fans wouldn’t complain. It’s just the sponsors and the foxes and channel 9s of the world

Ideal number is 16 but with expansion that is gone

Why 16?

Play everyone once = 15 games
Split into two tiers top 8 and bottom 8 who play each other once = 7 games (22 so far)
Tier A top 4 teams in finals
Tier A bottom teams play Tier B top 4 teams in straight out elimination with home ground advantage
Then 1 vrs 8, 2 vrs 7 etc home ground advantage until winner
25 or 26 games to win comp
To make up TV shortfall for less games (and contract dollars for players) teams 13 to 16 play a challenge tournament in regional NSW/QLD venues

Unless they sort out the salary cap breaches by Roosters (look at the players Penrith have lost compared to Rorters after GF appearances. Most of Roosters 2018 team still at club and high profile expensive players like Cricton and Suali added) and the biased refereeing (compare number of sin bins between Tigers and Roosters) the structure will not matter

Stop changing our game. It eas perfect 10 years ago and look at what it has become.

Sceptical that they'll reduce it to 19 rounds, that is 8 weeks less nrl premiership football than currently. While it would be good for the players, the TV broadcasters paying huge money for rights and advertisers will have a fit! Unless there is a viable new set of rugby league games for those weeks, can't see it happening given the money at stake...

How about two conferences or comps of 10 teams with each playing the others twice in a season. The best two of each conference play semis and so on like back in the day?

It should be 1 game home 1 game away against EVERY team, what is so hard about that?
