★ 4K 🇫🇷 Nice - Tende cab ride, France [09.2021] Führerstandsmitfahrt Tendebahn

We welcome you to another video on the amazing Tenda railway. We've already featured Breil-sur-Roya - Nice on this channel, this time we're travelling in the opposite direction, but instead of stopping in Breil, we'll continue to Tenda.

The line has a very interesting history - some of which you'll learn about throughout the journey. First conceived in the 1860's, it was met with opposition in France for security reasons. Finally, construction started, but alas, a few years later, World War I broke out and it came to a halt. Finally in 1928, the line from Cuneo (Italy) through Breil-sur-Roya (France) to Vintimiglia (Italy) was opened, including a connection line from Breil to Nice.

The line suffered a lot during World War 2, with some structures being destroyed multiple times. Most of the line was left in a state of despair, but miraculously, it was restored and reopened in 1979.

I'm always blown away by the skill of the tunnel builders. Not just to cut the tunnels but to know where they're going while cutting and end up on the other side in just the right place. Not to mention that a straight tunnel is feat enough but the skill and engineering to cut a spiral tunnel is mind blowing. Very beautiful line and very leisurely, the speed never goes too fast. Also, I observe that in France the driver blows the horn before entering the tunnel and just before exiting which is a good idea but I find the drivers in Switzerland rarely blow the horn.

Cette vidéo est grandiose. Merci aux auteurs pour la qualité des prises de vue et celle des infos. Par ailleurs, la ligne mérite amplement l'appellation "Train des merveilles" : paysages sublimes, a-pics vertigineux et un nombre de tunnels, ponts eu autres viaducs invraisemblable. Un seul regret : que cela s'arrête à Tende. On désirerait poursuivre le voyage à l'infini. P. S. : respect pour les constructeurs de la ligne : ingénieurs et ouvriers à une époque où l'on ne disposait pas des moyens mécaniques actuels.

amazingly beautiful railway line! I would say underestimated compared to other more well-known and promoted lines, thank you to the author, it's wonderful to make such a virtual journey. I promised myself that I will definitely go there next year or maybe this year.

Je suis un vrai nicois j ai connue cette ligne apres sa restauration j allais en vacances a limone et cuneo la gare de st dalmas de tende avait ete transformee en colonie de vacances j ai ete animateur et vu un peu les tunnels detruiits j ai 73 ans fontan et saorge recevait des filles st dalmas que des garcons j en garde un trais bon souvenir et une grande nostalgie merci pour cette video😂😂😮
