👋 In todays head to head comparison we take a look at the Chevrolet ZR2/s! The Silverado 1500 ZR2 and the Colorado ZR2! Both of these are offroad focused trim levels for each pickup and have a lot to offer! But which one should you pick!?
This 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is built to offroad! It comes with a lift kit, 33'' tires, skid plates, lockers and great angles! The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 also has built in storage in the tailgate which is a great use of space! I do wish it had more tie downs in the bed or channels to add more, but depends on what items you are hauling! The interior is very nice for the mid size class and there's a lot of tech offered which is nice!
The biggest change is the four cylinder turbo engine! Gone is the V6 and while a lot of people don't like that, this engine is just as capable! It didn't feel sluggish or underpowered, so it's a good power plant for this truck and what it's designed to do!
We also took the Chevrolet Colorado Z71 offroad, so check that out to see how well it did! This ZR2 would definitely do a lot more for sure!!
If you are looking for a mid size truck and you either offroad occasionally or just like the Colorado, it's definitely a good option and with this multimatic suspension, it rides great both on road and offroad! This is definitely a great truck for overlanding as well! You can practically take this 2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 anywhere and it's going to be very capable!
Overall, it's a nice comfortable truck and I would say is very impressive for a stock vehicle right off the lot!
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 has a lot of offroad focused technology with the multimatic suspension and 33 inch tires! This Silverado also comes with a 2'' lift kit and the steel side steps! This is also a full size truck that can be used daily and for work purposes! The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 is finished off in grey which seems to be a very popular color in todays market and has a two tone unique interior to go with it! The exterior has some nice accents and it's a big truck!
The technology and features for this $80K truck are very nice and accommodative to make this a great place to be! You even get some creature comforts like the heated rear seats!
Driving the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 is nice! It's a smooth driving truck, and the only loud part is the exhaust under an acceleration! If you are looking for a full size work truck, but also want the comfort using this truck a lot, this is a great option!

Colorado is a better looking truck, and far more practical if you’re actually going to take it offroad.

I couldn't justify the price difference for what I needed. My 2024 Colorado ZR2 is fully loaded with a few aftermarket additions and still well below the Silverado price. Since I paid cash. If I'm not happy, I will just trade it in.

I bought a 23 ZR2 Bison, Glacier Blue Metallic, 14k miles, 6.2L and my buddy bought a 24 ZR2 Colorado Bison 3k miles, 2.7l. I will tell you buy what you like, they are both great trucks in their own way. I bought it this year so I could avoid the 30% depriciation landslide and here's some of my opinions.

(Pro's for Silverado ZR2) -V8 (until it blows up, bottom 3% lol) the grumble, the power cannot be replicated in the colorado at all besides a little turbo noise... -automatic rear slide window cannot be emphasized enough, -interior feels more premium and space is apparent front and back, feels like a high end SUV interior, -Sits higher and feels better overall.

(Con's for Silverado ZR2) -12.5 MPG (Smiles per gallon) 17 combined I knew the trade off and if you drive normal you can average 18.5 MPG, but I knew what I was signing up for. -Leaf springs, I retorqued to 59 ft-lbs, let off and re tightened and they still needed the rubber shims (aftermarket, with tip ties) or they will make a clunking noise. Added armorer has the truck flex more. I came from a 2021 Trai lboss Grey Shadow Metallic, 5.3L and that truck felt light duty. This truck feels like a tank under 15MPH. -No underbody camera, - Body Mounted Sliders (will help protect little items at low speed).

(Pros for ZR2 Colorado) -MPG is slightly better, he's averaging 19.4MPG to my 18.5MPG, -35s from factory -Cheaper for 70% of the same ZR2 look and ability, Underbody camera, Frame Mounted Sliders, -can fit in most spaces on/off road, -

(Con's for ZR2 Colorado) -Manual Rear slide window -NO rearview mirror camera (like the Silverado) -Space is limited in front and rear, feels to small, -Less power significantly, it cannot keep up (tested by us), -360 camera no standard.

If you don't think there's a difference, test drive both. If you don't want to spend 85k brand new understand the Colorados appeal. I just wait 2-3 years for depreication to hit and find low mile vehicles Ilove and buy them, it helps with building positive equity in a vehicle.

Have a 2018 ZR2 V6 the size is hard to beat when it comes to off roading, I miss a full size and one main reason for possibly “upgrading” would be the LZO diesel. I really love the new Colorado look but it really needs a diesel option, that 2.7 needs more improvements for me to feel comfortable with it.

Why didn’t you compare a loaded Colorado ZR2 to the 1500? This one had a Harley any options!!! Not a good comparison!

Both of these trucks are unnecessary large and heavy for 90% of people who will buy them. We need to be transitioning back to small sedans and compact vehicles if we want to stave off the worst of climate change. Not to mention the huge dangers the massive trucks and suvs of today pose to pedestrians and sensible cars on the road. They also accelerate the degridation of our infrastructure by virtue of their weight and power.
