Lewis-Skelly is the real deal! He’s actually more developed as a first team player than Ethan Nwaneri is. That’s not throwing shade at Ethan. It’s about the role Arteta has found for MLS, it suits him perfectly and allows him time to grow into the game. We’re a heavily predominantly possession based team, so MLS is able to find more room to get into his favorite CM environment more often and suddenly he’s got space and room to show himself.

Ethan on the other hand, doesn’t have room to rest or ease off! He’s a creative player and all those positions in an Arteta team, are high octane both physically and mentally! Opposition fears you and never gives you time on the ball and Arteta also demands unbelievable work ethic both defensive and offensively! On and off the ball you’re always working very very hard because we defend from the front first!

So Ethan is gonna have to wait longer and MLS will become a more settled regular first team player first because of this.

If we buy a killer LW like Saka or better on the Left, I see Ethan getting more playing time in the Left8 with Odegaard and Rice in no6, against low block teams, with Kai Havertz in the false 9 because he can then rotate around Ethan to augment his game and give him support!

I think odegard need to improve his finishing. In this match he has created nice amount of chance . And i really liked it when he goes for the goal himself . I think due yo no saka he need to up his game and try to finsh more chances

Arsenal is playing comfort zone football, this will end with nothing, too slow in attacking and lack of decisions making and lack of quick maneuver mid field player. See the change when timber quickly maneuver when players are men mark, sometimes we need to create our own space

I think in terms of creativity, odegaard needs more freedom. I think dropping deeper allows him that. He can scan the field better and choose to make those incisive passes or dribble. Arriving in final third from deep helps him have that mental map of how to break down opponents defense. Whereas while playing up..receiving ball in 18 yards on the right side seems to limit his options with what he can do, as like u said, we allow teams to get into the low block. Out of everything what we need most is a ball carrier this january transfer window. Kudus or williams is a must requirement.

Let's see lewis-skelly face a more refined RW before we conclude on his development,
IMO, i think Nwaneri should replace Saka. He'll help alongside Odegaard in creativity because against Ipswich, we were toothless in attack.

5 things learned:
1) It was not an entertaining but a boring game;
2) Scoring a single goal against a toothless team indicates Arsenal can not score;
3) Our players are spending too much time passing the ball around at the back, allowing opposition team players to return their 18 yard box, with too many bodies, preventing even taking a shot on goal post; unless we have very sharp, clinical strikers we can not score with number of touches in the box;
4) We are far too slow in carrying the ball forward; we are not making enough counter attacks;
5) Our wingers, when they get the ball are always surrounded by 2-3 opposition players, not able to get closer to their goal.

Arsenal fan here, we were awful, huge imbalance due to poor team selection. Constantly pass the ball too slow. Too many point lost this season nowhere near the level of Liverpool.

Arteta tried Playing 2 centre backs(kiwior Tomi)at left back, buying 2 left back in 3 years, but the best guy for the job turned out be an 18 year old academy player benching 4 fit senior left backs in the process.

All of this makes no difference if we’re not lifting the Premier League trophy this season.
Seen a few plastic fans who were questioning Arteta a few weeks ago and are now back to singing his chants but this resurgence means nothing if it’s too late. We should be dominating teams not struggling to find a goal.

Havertz is allowed to play that role because Lewis-Skelly is so fucking good as a central deep lying playmaker from left back. Crucial tactically already at 18.
