Instead of throwing that ball back he could have given it to Greg Gibson, the homeplate umpire, who's motioning to both players

Yeah sure, I just reached a foot over the fence to catch a commemorative game home run ball, why don't I just hand it to a kid who I probably don't even know

This what I would do if I'm at wrigley and the visiting team hits a HR. But if I'm there to watch my team in the bleachers and the Phillies hit a HR, then I'm keeping it.
