I bought the 24 inch version about four years ago. I honestly had no idea what I was going to get; I just wanted to take a chance to see if this one was better than anything else out there. After all, that's the way it always is; some new product comes out and boasts a "better way", and you have this desire inside your head to see if it's true.

Out of the box, I had only one complaint; the copper rivets had sharp edges, and I had to tackle them with a jeweler's file. Other than that, I could make no comments; I just had to see how long it would last, and how durable and productive it would be while it lasted.

After the first full Summer and Winter of use, I began to think that this product just might be the "Golden Fleece". The overall design, the weight, the compactness, AND, the results of it's labor, were phenomenal. Half way through the second year, again phenomenal; but then minute details began to arise. The blade has a heat-treat that prevents field maintenance, and the copper rivets/aluminum frame began to wear and become loose. The edge of the wood cantilever handle that comes in contact with the frame every time you assemble the saw, wears down; even if you apply beeswax for maintenance, which I did.

Four Years I've had it now; a few extra blades, a pounding or two or three with a ball peen hammer, and some teflon mods to the wood It really is the best thing going. Think about it for a moment. We're not Loggers, Lumberjacks, Carpenters, or Tool Masochists that rely on this tool to process wood eight hours a day, seven days a week, for years on end; we're campers, hikers, woodsmen, and bushcrafters. This saw fits the is especially fitting for an addition to any survival kit. I just bought the 30 inch model for my Pick-up truck. It's a great it's not a professional tool meant for constant work. It's a "Weekender" or a fantastically reliable survival saw to save your life. GET

For now, going to hang on to my old Trailblazer John, (picked up several spare blades for it), but sure find myself admiring Bob's work!  Good to hear you picked up his product!

I love this saw John. For those that do not already own one I recommend buying more than one.

Say Heah Joh. I always though the Bob Dristrude Buck Saw is a good one. But I waited on it because in cold weather where I travel my Silky Bigboy 2000 was doing good for me. It processed forewood in cold weather just fine. So I held off, thinking that eventually I was going to get Bob's saw. But then Agawa Canyon came out with the 21 Boreal Saw. Very similar with no screws, bolts or nuts to loose. But that its also easier to replace the blade. I got the Crazy Horse Leather Scabbard that carries my extra saw blade just in case. One thing to mention. My friends that own Bob's Buck Saw say the wood handles swell a little in moist conditions. So the 21 Boteal Saw has ABSOLUTELY Handles impervious to the weather. And it closed nicer. Yeah, its a bit heavier too, but that I think makes it stronger. So, yeah, check it out. No disrespect. Oh, also check out the EZ KUT WoW Folding Saw its claime to fame is it cuts really fast because how the teeth are made., , .p

I purchased this saw about a year ago and also purchased the canvas sleeve carrying case. It is by far the most versatile and compact saw of its size. Definitely worth the cost. I have used it on numerous outings and it has worked flawlessly. It has numerous advantages in cutting wood due to its design.  It can cut larger logs. Bob Dustrude also has a youtube video on this saw and he makes other excellent outdoor products.  You can check out Four Dog Stove at Four Dog.com. Great products.
