Sorry to inform you the pharmacy always KNOWS the prices of all medications. They didn't want to tell you thinking (i guess) if it was too expensive you would not proceed.

Hello. First of all, thanks for the video! It has a lot of very useful information. 👏
I’m the same situation where I’m using my fertility coverage to help me pay for the IVF cycle and medications. I’m interested in your non-covered medical expenses. You mentioned “anesthesia”, “room fee” and “genetic testing”. Did you have any other type of non-covered expense by the end of your cycle? And were you successful when you tried to submit a claim by yourself with your insurance provider to get some of those “non-covered” expenses reimbursed?

I totally understand how the emotions are. When my husband and I were trying to conceive after having 2 miscarriages, my husband and I got in the biggest fight on the way to our first ultrasound when I as pregnant with my son. It was about not being late to the appointment, lol. It’s a stressful time for both. Question: are you guys doing a fresh or frozen transfer?

Tasha, I have a question about the cost of IVF that hopefully you would be able to answer. Previously we weren’t going to consider IVF due to its high cost. But I just found out that we actually had some insurance coverage through our current employer. Previously when I consulted with the dr., we didn’t have the insurance benefits and were given a pricing based on self-pay. It was around 20000 dollars without insurance. My limited understanding about insurance is that if we go through the insurance and they will file a claim of a much higher price, say 50000 dollars (I spoke with the insurance company and was told that this was the typical number on the claims that came in.) If that’s the case, even after the insurance coverage of, say 15000 dollars, we might still need to pay more than what we would have paid without insurance. I’m not sure if my question is clear. Since you used insurance for IVF, I wanted to hear from you about how it worked with insurance. That would be tremendously helpful for us to make a decision. Of course we will try to consult the dr again, but I’m afraid they would not give me any answer without having me go through a bunch of appointments. Thank you soooo much for sharing!

The pharmacy knows the cash price of the medication but couldn’t tell you the cost with insurance because it sounds like the medication needed a prior authorization with the insurance. In that case the MD has to send paperwork of medical necessity to the insurance company. Only when that’s completed and the pharmacy gets a paid claim will they know what your copay is. Before it just rejects through the insurance. They prob didn’t want to tell you the cash price because they definitely did not expect you to be willing to pay. I’ve been yelled at over a $20 copay so I also would not have expected someone to pay full price. Glad it all worked out in then end.

Most birth control pills don't have to be taken at the exact same time, within an hour or so is absolutely fine, and within 12 hours means you're still covered on regividon, so check with your doctor for the particular pill you're on

My work offers a special insurance that covers ivf but at the same time there is barely communication between the Dr and the insurances and we just ended up with a $$$$ bill that we need to clear out. Hoping to talking with finance dept soon.
