Chaos mutants are a big part of my campaign, with mutations/abilities both visible and hidden. Keeps the players on their toes. Note: there's nothing more disturbing than the naked guy running around in battle... Some fungal zombies have shown up in my sessions, as well. Always fun to have an "undead" that doesn't turn... Finally, I'd recommend Gavin Norman's Theorems & thaumaturgy supplement for its necromancer and Vivimancer classes to add some body horror magic to a game.

Love me a bit of horror! I always appreciate tips on how to ramp up the heebie-jeebies! Good advice to sound out your players comfort levels....just so you know where the limit is - and can sidle right up to it. :)

Great video. Gauntlet games are good for horror because the characters are normally less superhero and more normal guy. I got one I am going to run at NTRPG next year. Is there a chance I can send it to you as a good faith review.

Once again, thank you for the show of support! When I run horror, I don't worry as much about safety tools. I know that is controversial, but horror is supposed to be unsettling and disturbing. It is very hard to have your players *feel* scared at the table. So, if you can get an "ugh, gross" or a moment of tense silence from your players during the horror game, you've succeeded in my book.

When I've run Call of Cthulu one-shots, I always start with "The Big Secret" and then work my way backwards building the onion the players have to peel to get to the horrific truth. Mystery can really draw players into an immersive experience.
