Thomas Tuchel just hasn't experience this kind of busy period of footy before in his management career since he came to Chelsea last January. It will probably take time few years for him get use to it unless Chelsea board sack him in next 12/18 months time.

The rules are already clear - if teams have 14 players and a goalkeeper available, then teams are expected to play. Tuchel refused to include U23s in the main squad - his reasoning being because they train separately... so he did have more players available for a full bench - he just chose not to use them... Other teams have used their youngsters for games to go ahead such as Everton. Games are called off when a team still doesn't have enough players, including their reserve squads, U23s etc. Chelsea did have enough players, Tuchel just wanted different rules being applied for Chelsea so he could have his strongest bench possible... Other teams have played with not only a weakened bench but a weakened starting XI. He knows he needs every inch he can get to have a chance at the title - they scraped fourth last year remember so by no means do they have European football guaranteed based on current form. Chelsea can forget the title...

Chelsea’s FIRST team is as good as Man City and Liverpool’s. The problem isn’t the amount of absentees - it’s the bad luck of losing every starting midfielder and now every striker. When they have the squad back to normal they will be up there. This is the same Chelsea that has had the better of Man City last season and drew with Liverpool at Anfield with 10 men when looking the better team. Underestimate them at your peril.
