DSI Sequential Prophet X - Black keys QC Issue!

I chalked it up to being unlucky, but this 2nd NEW replacement from Sweetwater (Thanks guys, really you've been nothing but helpful!) has the same scratched, marked up black keys! What a shame DSI.

*Viewers Beware* This is not a quality control issue that affects the performance of the synth or it's playability. In fact playing the actual keys helps to make the brush marks and scuffs go away. In most cases using a fabric polishing cloth on the keys will solve the issue in minutes, as the keys referred to are molded black plastic, which even deep scratches can be sanded in seconds. One thing of true significance to note from this video - praise to Sweetwater's customer service... overhead on MSRPs being slimmer than ever, and having to eat all the shipping costs just for this, AND doing it happily = respect.

Hey Irish, what do you think of the yamaha Genos? I am thinking about either getting the prophet x or the Genos.

I’m particular about my new stuff too, so I agree with the criticism, but I would not have blasted them on YT for it if the rest of the board was in order. Seems like a small issue by itself but then again the last new board I purchased was over 15 years ago (Fantom-S), so what do I know . Either way it’s nice to see Sweetwater exhibiting great customer service. Maybe they will release a desktop module version with no keys and you can control it from the Montage. Assuming you have used the Prophet X by now, which board sounds better?

Check out the keys on a Virus TI2. Those keys are always scratched up.

In the future the price of every products with one title should be different. Obviously those scratches doesn't qualify the unit 4 grand. This guy will return the scratched prophet X, then who do you think get this product? Do you think it will go to the factory and reassembled? Nope, the next customer who ordered would get this instrument, which has become almost the second hand. This is a real problem people should be aware of. On other cases like youtubers who are doing early reviews. Viewers may think youtubers are giving them the good information, but actually the same issue occurs. Who do you think get the reviewed product?

Do you admire your keyboard or do you use it? Eventually with regular use these scratches would happen anyway. Disclaimer. I have both a Prophet X and a Montage 7 and see what you are referring to even on my keyboards. The “scratches” on the X don’t diminish my enjoyment of the instrument. I think there might be bigger things to worry about. My opinion of course.

You say at one point "its no big deal" after ragging about it for 2 Minutes...you have to shine a flashlight at the right angle to even see them, such a non QC issue you made lot of people do extra work for basically nothing and trashed a awesome company's name...i have a prophet X it ROCKS !

Super shitty plastic. Like... lowest bidder. Wonder how bad the guts are if they're skimping that bad on stuff you can actually see.
