Shipping Wars: Final Round
Theme: Essence
Pairing: LightningxSnow
For the final round of SW we had to portray the 'essence' of our ship - the emotion or a favourite scene - within a 25 second time limit. I'm amazed that I got to the final round, and I didn't think I would get anything done for it, but here is my entry!
I feel that the essence of Lightning and Snow is the constant uncertainty that they have, not only for their journey, but also for each other. All Snow really wants is Serah, and all Lightning wants is her sister back - but Serah is the only thing they have in common, and Light isn't ready to give her up to a man that she doesn't exactly approve of. However, Snow seems to be the only person that Serah has depended on for a long time, and often makes sure that he is the first person by her side, constantly pushing Lightning out of the picture.
Along the way, Lightning learns to accept that Snow is going to be a big part of her life, and that she must accept Serah's decisions. She feels guilty for letting her sister down for so long, but ironically, the man that she blames becomes the man that saves her on their journey. They slowly learn to accept each other's differences, and that's why I chose these two specific scenes for this video. The first one clearly shows Lightning being pushed aside, and the second is the scene that changes her relationship with Snow dramatically for the rest of the game. She learns to accept him, but also the changes that will come with it.
"I've loved and I've lost" shows that Snow loves Serah, and Lightning has lost her.
I don't know if I've explained it very well, but ... this is all I had.
{Bonus question}: What would be the happily ever after to your ship?
I've thought about this alot, and honestly ... it's difficult to imagine Lightning and Snow having a happily ever after - mostly because of the canon storyline. If I had it my way, I would probably like them to realise that they have feelings for each other, and eventually confess in each of their own stubborn ways! It would be massively awkward for Lightning and incredibly amusing for Snow! xD
