The course has been designed for the students of Anthropology and Sports Sciences at college or university level. In addition, this elective course can also be opted by under graduate students of relevant disciplines of Education, Physical Education and Nutritional science. The course will cover the essential aspects of fitness and nutrients comprising of introductory background of human physique, physical conditioning and physiological effects. The course also covers the Body composition as well as sports selection and monitoring. Further the environmental effects on physiological responses and performance are also covered along with nutritional values. ‘Health & nutrition’, ‘doping & performance’ and ‘Space & society’ like relative topics make this course more valuable to understand Anthropology of sports and society in reference to health, food and nutritional values. The coverage of cultural constructions and physiological implications of food across time and an integrated behavioural perspective towards food preference, enriches the course to understand biological variability and relative health aspects on human growth and development.
