I was a tank crewman in a M60-A1. Driving it was a real gas. Also, at the firing range, the 105 MM was insanely accurate. I agree it had a ton of room.

I had purchased a ride in the T-54 at Aquino 2022 and the driver was very generous with his time and knowledge. Having ridden in the T-54 you can feel how unrefined the driving controls are and how much the crew would be jostled around just in normal driving, nevermind trying to actually crew the tank while in combat and would have been very tiring. In comparison both the M60 and Chieftain were like riding in a cushy sedan.

I went to the Aquino Tank weekend last year in 2023, and it was a blast. Rode the Leopard 1A5 around and got to see all the awesome exhibits they had on display. Cool to see that you got to experience that too!

I drove an M4 once. I don't remember WHERE it was? But it was AWESOME. The controls are relatively EASY to use. Also, what was it like in the M60A1?

As to which cold war tank was better I have to give it to the M60. When you have to live on the tank for a few weeks you appreciate the extra room.

The only disappointment is I wanted to get a good look inside the commander's cupola and see how the . 50 cal gun is emplaced without getting in the way .
