For years, viewers tuned into Pretty Little Liars to follow the wild twists and turns that the showrunners had cooked up, and it all wrapped up in 2017 with an explosive ending. At first, the girls of Pretty Little Liars were trying to figure out the identity of “A,” an online bully who was trying to control their lives.

When they found out who was behind “A,” they were faced with “Big A,” and finally “A.D.” Fans got their answers about A.D. on the series finale, and we think we finally understand what was going on with the Pretty Little Liars ending.

They literally had no clue where they were going after the Mona is A reveal, prolongue the show by making everyone a suspect to get in on that coin and the pull some crap out of their a**es for the finale.

When someone summarises the show like this it just really makes no sense at all does it. How did I watch this for 7 seasons???

Am the only one who's like "who cares about who the A's were, there are tons of secrets that never got revealed, we would wait for the next episode and the next until the series end and still no answers

Pll is my favorite show of all time, but it definitely didn’t have the ending the fans or the show deserved

they did us so dirty with the AD reveal

It really was a horrible ending. Almost like they had no way to puzzle someone regular in the show to being A so they threw someone in there to end it

If that was the case, they should have made AD Alison.

*SPOILERS*

To clarify, I look to the books. In the original books, the Ali that the girls all knew was actually Courtney DiLaurentis, Alison's twin sister. See, Alison got her sent to Radley because she was jealous that Courtney was more popular (because she was nicer). When Radley closed down, Courtney was home in Rosewood getting ready to move to the Preserve, another mental hospital (one that Hanna actually stayed at, a parallel to Spencer being in Radley on the show).

In the books, Rosewood Day had this flag tradition where the students would look for a flag hidden by a select few. It was the girls' first time since they were 6th graders. Jason had been given the flag to hide and Alison had boasted that he would tell her where he hid it. The girls- Spencer, Aria, Emily, and Hanna- all had the same idea to steal it (which was part of the rules) from her on the same night. They arrived at the DiLaurentis house and confronted each other on it.

Courtney (who had actually Stolen Alison's piece of the flag, only to have it taken by Jason who gave it to Aria) went out to talk to them. She did this knowing that her mother would think she was Ali talking to some friends from school. It worked and Alison was the one sent to the Preserve. Then Courtney befriended the girls and that was how the story started.

Alison was the one to kill Courtney (who everyone thought was Ali) and was also A after Mona. It would have been cool if they had incorporated that into the sbow

marlene king beat the shit out of this series trying to squeeze out the last few seasons, She completely ruined and made the show have no direction while at the same time be all over the place.

I would have loved if Aria was A because I feel she was the one that wasn’t target by A as much as the other girls. She’s also shown several behavioral issues throughout the show like when her dad made her change out of an outfit for being too revealing for school because he found out about Ezra and she threatened him with telling her mom about his affair. Then in a flashback when she trashed her dad’s office with Allison. She also trashed Ezras apartment after she found out about his book and connection to Allison. There’s also that unexplained reason why Eddie Lamb from Radley sanitarium thought he recognized her from somewhere when she was volunteering. There was also that episode where Aria, Mona, and Mike went to watch something at a theatre and she whispered something into Mona’s ear and the viewers never knew what she said but it was obviously something mean/threatening judging by Mona’s reaction. She also only really cared about herself and Ezra because she would have rather betrayed her friends and helped A than risk Ezra going to jail but overall throughout the entire show you can see how much more she cared about Ezra and what would happen to him rather that anyone else which shows motive for why she wouldn’t feel any way towards becoming A in the first place. This show gave Aria being A so much potential but in my opinion just messed the plot up with the route they took the show in because Aria being A would be way more believable but also devastating and somewhat shocking to the viewers.

The ending that would have been awesome was not Spencer having a twin but rather Spencer lost her mind (maybe schizophrenia?) after they were trapped in the dollhouse. It would have had a much more dramatic effect for the fans and a more interesting ending for the show. Spencer back in a mental institution, Toby visits making it obvious he still loves her, she gets out and they're all at the dinner together. During the big reveal, we just see Spencer talking to herself in a mirror with a reflection that argues with her. It would have been much harder hitting than the shitty ending we actually got.

If we are going by "clues" the show actually provided clues, license plate numbers, books/ movie references, misspellings and word usages in certain A messages, apple references (An apple day keeps the doctor away), British flags, tea references, all the medical references (surgical gloves, xrays, blood tubes, prescription drugs and patient visitations, Radley, A being inside the hospital on multiple occasions) Then one would know Wren was originally meant to be Charles. Now if we talk about the twin it should of been Aria (The twins in her photo album, her trip "overseas", her constantly seeing her reflection in the mirror(camera angle would show double image of Aria but single of the girls), literary references, her doll collection, the double headed doll with blonde hair and pink/black hair, the painting of the blonde girl in her room, A always attacking the other girls worse than Aria. There were Bethany connections to the Montgomery family. If A knows then so does B and C as Ezra pointed out ( Aria + Bethany = Charles) The Scott Montgomery/Mary story line linking Wren to the Montgomery's and the Montgomery's to the Dilaurentis'. Wren's father story mirrors Byron's story of his brother. Aria's crazy Aunt Ruth.. The deleted scene where Aria tells her dad she got a ride home from Bethany's pictures resembling the Montgomery home and the twin killing her sister in the Halloween flash back was in the Montgomery home. In the dark Wren gave Melissa pills for Ian and he all of sudden dies, well when Spencer and Aria were spying on them Aria blurts out is that Wren before Spencer even figures it out. Yet Aria doesn't really know Wren.

By ending I thought they meant when Mona trapped Alex and Mary in the dollhouse

Marlene gave so many hints that it was Aria and when people called her out, she had to change it. Thats what happened. Season 7 of Pll was worse than GoTs

Ok.. but I'll never forgive that horrible accent.

But I mean like there’s Mona playing with her dolls in the end and correct me if I’m wrong, but this kind of makes it seem like Mona made it up in her head while she was playing with her dolls which explains why the plot has so many holes

I always loved the Aria is A theory cause not only it would have been so shocking but also because all of the clues that they left throughout the 7 seasons which never got an explaination with the Alex Drake ending, which sadly I really didn't like after all, cause even though it looks like Spencer, its not her, and I always thought the ultimate Big Bad would end up being someone from the beginning, someone we knew so well that it would've been like crazy shocking! And the Wren theory as well! SO many clues that now make no sense - either way, I love PLL and miss it so muchhh. I still binge watch the episodes every now and then 😭

i don't get why people would want A to be aria I feel like that would ruin it because the whole show is based around their friendship and if we found out she was faking we could never look at her the same again which would ruin all they have been through
