thanks very much! I'm an IT dud trying to set up my own website. this was really helpful in getting WAMP downloaded. Just having some trouble getting the localhost to open now. It did at first. but after changing the testmysql.php it doesn't seem to load at all..

August 2018. When i got to the (phpMYADMIN login page) Username: root; password " " Server choice, had to select instead of MYSQL, had to select MariaDB located under MYSQL to login. This relates to 4.50 phpMYADMIN.

In case anyone runs into an error message when trying to bring up localhost in the browser: I tried multiple things, but in the end had to put the testmysql.php file back to how it was originally and finally got the Connection OK message. I'm guessing that file has changed since this video was posted.

followed your tutorial exactly when I do the localhost/testmysql.php thing I get a bunch of orange error boxes. so how to I fix that? you forgot to say

Had the same problem.  Try this.  For the username use "root" - without the quotation marks.  For password, just leave the box blank.  Should work.
