I am a big Micro 4/3 cameras and lenses user, but I want to share some regrets that I experienced during my photography journey related to Micro Four Thirds. Hopefully by watching this video, you can learn more about my regrets and be able to utilize Micro Four Thirds, or whatever camera format you are using, to the fullest potential.

Hi Gary, not so much a regret but a sadness that David Thorpe is no longer with us. I still refer back to his videos for tips and things that I have forgotten or overlooked.

I regret selling two cameras …the Lumix GX80 and the Lumix LX7 over the past 3 years. I have recently repurchased the LX7 for a forthcoming trip as it’s so small and versatile.

I have also just started to appreciate the smaller ‘kit’ lenses especially the 12-32 …perfect combination for my EPL7 which is the camera I usually put in my bag ( despite having the larger more capable Oly MFT cameras).

I am pretty satifsfied with my M43 gear. Just I am not using primes enough.
Thank you you for promoting the system. I also think that most people would be more than happy with what they have if they tried M43.

I was a Canon shooter for many years doing weddings at a high level. I have been on M43 for over five years and have printed more memories from them and absolutely love mine now. Have never looked back

Love my om1, there a guy on YouTube saying that the micro 4/3 was only got old people. lol I am old but if I had known about the micro 4/3 system I would have jumped on it.

As someone who has used Micro Four Thirds since the E-P1 days, I can relate to your regrets! For me, I kind of regret selling my Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 (first gen) and 14mm f/2.5, as they would go great with my GX850 now. I also regret not learning video better. I was a big user of camcorders back in the day, but I rarely do anything with the video clips that I capture with my cameras. And I'm like you--hooked on the quality of the Pro-level zooms. I'm ashamed to say that I'm now touting a G9 with the Olympus 12-100 f/4 PRO--a setup that's nearly as big as most FF setups!

I regret not buying the Lumix GM5 when it first came out. I also regret selling my GX line of cameras but every sale went towards the next camera so a bittersweet experience.

Hi Gary...Liverpool Kev here again....I have sold and then bought again a number of M43 lenses....I do regret selling the Pen F to buy the weather sealed Em1 Mk2 which I never take out in the rain haha...I have been taking photos for decades and only now....and I mean right now am I learning to take videos...reducing file sizes in VLC software is a 'Godsend' by the way...Love your videos Gary...fun and useful...many thanks from across the Kev

Hello Gary I have six MFT cameras of which are Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IIIs, Olympus PEN E-PL1, Olympus OM-D E-M1, 2X Olympus OM-D E-M1X, and a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX7C
A started to get into MFT just after Covid in November 2023 and the one I use the most is the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX7C thank you for your interesting video's

My regret is the same as yours: not having switched to M43 before. Yes, doesn't have same quality as FF, but you surely gain in practicality, even though i was already accustomed to go out with just one lens.

David Thorpe is one of the guys who made me change over from Nikon. I even got an email from him about six months before he passed, meant a lot to me.

The GX8 was the LUMIX flagship camera when released. So it was a pro level camera.

The lumix GX body line hits the right spot for my street photography needs. It is small and lightweight. Tilting screen. In body flash and image stabilization. Lovely image quality. Wonderful video output. Contrast based depth from defocus autofocuses quickly and accurately. The only downside is the lack of a microphone jac.

Getting into theM43 environment is the best decision I made. My greatest regret is believing larger sensor bodies are better than M43. I can’t see a difference so M43s is good enough for me. The right tool for the right job. Plus, by and large, M43s is cheaper than the larger sensor bodies.
