⭐ This is Episode 23 of my series exploring the history of Marvel Comics!

⭐ I never got why Jack Murdock, Daredevil's father, went against the deal he had with The Fixer and won the fight against Carl Creel, sealing his fate this way.
He knew that not only he was going to be murdered as a result, but also that his son, Matt, would pay a hefty price.
So I was very surprised to see the answer revealed in this 2007 amazing series illustrated by the fabulous di Giandomenico.

A few other reasons along with this could be:
1)He wanted his son to see him win and make him proud.
2)Murdocks got the "devil" in them. They had the urge to satisfy their thirst for violence and he was unable to control it at that time.

It's best shown in the Netflix series. He wanted to be thought of as a winner and an honorable man in his son's eyes.

Sometimes, a man has to do what he has to do. This, in turn, sets an example live by. What's best is hard to say, but nothing good comes from minimalizing the struggle

I dont think anyone mentioned it yet, but it's also likely he couldn't fight for much longer. CTE is a real threat and with him taking so many beatings it likely not something he wanted his blind son to deal with. Rather go for a huge pay out.
