My friend from Manipur told me the disputes between the two tribes have been happening from past many years. Even during Congress rule, they turned a blind eye towards them.
Apart from that the illegal immigration of kuki community members from Mayanmar is adding fuel to the fire.

This report doesn't make sense. Most of the weapons in Manipur isn't stolen from village police station, they are illegally imported from Myanmar and China. Secondly, it negates the history of ethnic tension, rife in the region. For example, Naga and Meitei are both Christian group but both have conducted genocide and violence against each other.

Meitei nationalist, Tripurari nationalist, bodo nationalist ( they are majorly Christian) etc hate Hinduism and want to disassocite with Hinduism.

In the rule of congress govt, these types of tension randomly used to surface in NE. It was so much so that the whole region used to have ASFPA. The report is soldly not informed. Except for Manipur, BJP govt have created one of the most prosperous and peaceful time in NE.

Manipur ethnic clashes are not new. It was a very sensitive area since Independence. A few peaceful years and the violence again escalted. It is ethnic not religious clashes. It has also to do with reservations for tribal groups which both group wants for themselves but not for the other side. It has also to do with the drug smuggling and porous border with Myanmar which the govt wants to close. There is no one issue. Both groups are very violent towards each other and they also have their own armed groups. Its a very complicated issue even kashmir was not this complicated.
