"Yo bro, why cant you memorize?"
"Because of the inhibation of neurogenesis in my hippocampus"
"Ah, okay, didnt knew that"

That leads to the question "what causes inhibited neurogenesis in the hippocampus?"

Unfortunately I'm here before they've posted the link in a pinned comment/the description

I believe without neurogenesis You can't learn anything at all, not only on mistakes. So the person lost the ability to form long-term memories. We are talking about the learning on mistakes from Alzheimers patients point of view, right?

And also can we remember something without the neurogenesis? Like without new nerve cells, but with the replacement of the old ones?

Thank you for that bit of information. I am 27 and I suffered a stroke 19 years ago.

So is it only a one-way process or is learning new things also a type of neurogenesis?

I know in neurodegenerative diseases like Huntington's Disease, it's recommended to always be learning to keep your brain as active as possible.

Not sure if that's to activate neurogenesis or if it's simply to delay neurodegeneration or if it's just a mind trick to keep you from thinking about the reality of your situation.

In any case, I've noticed that leaning into learning new things and becoming a jack of all trades, master of none greatly increases the speed in which it takes to learn something new.

All sorts of pathways, links, and commonalities are created and found when you go through each experience. Plus, it's just fun.

My hippocampus must be tiny...and with 2 brain cells

Can you talk about how long-term depression can shrink the Hippocampus? There is research on this.

To be more percise even in the hippocampus most regions of the brain don't regenerate or rewire anymore a lot. Especially with increasing age. Otherwise we would always have to relearn how to walk for example. One of the better shorts

Lion's mane is a mushroom that has shown to cause neurogenesis

@HealthyGamerGG
Is it true that magic mushrooms induce neurogenesis?

Would this relate to not being able to imagine/ picture things, places & memories?

Also not being able to dream or have a nightmare. I fall asleep and wake up, it feels like an instant, but i dont ever dream or wake up in a cold sweat anymore because of it

is the neurogenesis in the hippocampus for your whole life?

I wonder how those who have had a stroke respond to NGF compounds, such as those found in Lions Mane.

So what kind of brain cells do not regenerate?
