I have a lot of respect for the fact that despite being such a huge name, he's chosen to self fund his more recent movies, to ensure he has full creative control. Apparently he remortgaged his house to fund Glass.

Thank you for this! For all your warning caveats, what comes across is that there are ideas kicking around in this movie, and that is enough to encourage me to check it out.

There's an MNight style, where in the beginning is a mystery then the reveal and the climax.
The audience is taken on a journey, it's something I don't often see in these modern Hollywood block busters irrespective of the subject matter of the story.

i like your take on shyamalan. i think he gets way too much blind hate. at least he’s original and fun :)

Shyamalan is his biggest enemy. His campy style, his artificial dialogues, his strange fixation with simple, boring exposition, and most of all - his very, very strange direction making great actors sound and move like cheap puppets.

He managed to overcome it in “The Visit” but after that he went right back to his style and it makes the movie feel artificial which, for me, completely destroys any tension.

I thought it was pretty good. I was engaged the whole time, I was interested in the characters and I wasn't rolling my eyes. Bautista was great and after the disaster that was "Old", I was pretty happy with it. The movie isn't rocket science but it was enjoyable and I was pleasantly surprised.

I loved the movie. It was thought provoking. The only thing I would change is to go much more dark with the apocalyptic imagery and to never come right out and say who the 4 represent. Through colors and other Easter eggs that part was evident for me early in the movie but would have been a fun online discussion "discovery" .

I loved the turning the typical home invasion story on its head

I still remember going out to see "Signs" at the movies during the summer (around early August) of 2002.

3 guarantees in life: Death, Taxes, and an M Night moving having a dumb hackneyed twist.

"Aww, come on... Let him preach!"

:'D :'D I just had to cite my drunk self watching this review now, when you mentioned the slight preachiness towards the end. I feel like it's a very stigmatized feeling but it can be an awesome part of certain movies to feel like someone is preaching to you right now and you're letting them. And this movie will contain this one preach whether you like it or not? If it hits good, it hits good, you know? Anyway, back to vacation celebration <3

The Village is a regular re-watch for me, despite its many flaws. It was just this really important moment for me in life and one of my favorite theater experiences.

Bautista is the real "revelation" in this film. Sorry; I could not help myself! But I'm serious. He was excellent! It felt more like a very good television episode than a fully realized movie, and ultimately left me wanting more. Unsatisfying, but still a "fun" ride.

I’d really love to see you do a redux review of The Master

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was watching one of your videos and you mentioned in passing that you're an artist (painting on canvas?). I was curious as to why you don't make videos about your painting and share your work with the world? As an art lover, I would think that showcasing your work might bring you extra revenue and exposure. Just wondering. P.S., your videos are insightful and intelligent. I love your command of the English language and the way you express your thoughts. Keep it up.

Dave Bautista and the little girls performances & their chemistry are definitely the best element of this movie. I guess the pov footage on the beach is pretty compelling also.

Hey, interesting review and now I think I would go check it out with all its flaws in mind, btw would love for you to review Aftersun which broke me in theaters the 3 times I watched it, I think you'll really enjoy and find a bit to chew on with that one, certainly one of the best debuts I've ever seen.

Love it when someone can verbalise my thoughts accurately... nice! 👍👍

I think he's a good director but sadly hasn't done a good film in years. And I feel bad for Rupert Grint. If there's a Harry Potter actor who has had the hardest struggle to move on from that saga it's him.

Did you get to see Infinity Pool in the theater? Would be very interested to hear your take on it.

Not my favorite, but I still had a good time with this. I hope those grasshoppers are okay. I don’t think we ever return to them.
