We love Bar Harbor. We’ve been there a couple of times on Princess cruises from New York to Canada and New England. Bar Harbor is one of the best stops - a really cool tender port with lots of shops and restaurants. I understand the residents position. The last time we visited via cruise, there were two cruise ships in port and the town was VERY crowded. I’m thinking that the 1, 000 limitation is too restrictive and that they should have gone with only one ship at a time - and that would have been a better option for both the town and cruising.

I sailed there in the 90s on the original Crown Princess. I looked into it. Even this ship couldn't go there anymore. It held 1500 passengers

We visited Bar Harbor this fall and it was stunningly beautiful. I am saddened by this news. I was hoping to go back on another Princess cruise but doesn't look like this will happen now.

I am fairly certain that if I were a business owner in a cruise port town, I would want as many people coming to my store as possible. I would be open for business when the ship arrives and hopefully my store would have something the cruise passengers want/need. Telling cruise passengers that I don't want their business seems silly to me.

Bar Harbor is a lovely town. I understand where the residents are coming from but I think they would be better served by restricting the number of cruise ships per day or per week rather than the number of passengers on each ship. Because this means that the only ships that will be allowed in Bar Harbor now are the small, expensive, exclusive ships. I think they could have restricted the ships to one per day or three or four per week.

We went to Bar Harbor in 2018 on Grandeur of the Seas, Royals smallest ship. It holds just under 2500 passengers. I loved Bar Harbor. We did an excursion to Acadia National Park and I had my first lobster dinner where the whole lobster was served and not just the tail.

I live in Maine. Bar Harbor is definitely worth the visit. Portland had a similar question restricting that did not pass. Maybe if a stop could be made for longer period time in Portland it could help give some of the Maine experience through an excursion getting out of the city

No, we haven't been there on any of our cruises. Sad, I will most likely not ever see it now.

We have not been there but want to go. Having read other comments, I don't mind the residents making the decision to restrict passengers off the ships. We will probably fly up and find a place to stay so we can take the time to enjoy all it has to offer.

It will be interesting to see how long the ban lasts. Cruises brought people into a town during times other than just summer. I understand wanting to keep the city more residential, but the businesses will suffer.

Bar Harbor is beautiful. I do not blame the residents for voting to reduce the ships because the attraction, as you stated is Acadia and wild life. If you want to see Bar Harbor, you are better off taking a week to explore it. I've climbed Cadillac, it would have been more picturesque if the Celebrity wasn't anchored in the water.

Never been there but I guess the residents have to make a choice between $$$$ and crowds. Their town, their rules. Kinda like Key West.

Bar Harbor resident tax dollars vs cruise ship passenger dollars spent in Bar Harbor? I guess it’s a win lose for both.

I don’t see why you would get on a ship and want to go somewhere inside the United States. If I want to go to somewhere in the state I’ll drive or fly so no sweat off my nose.
