GREECE CRETE , Kreta , Rethymno - AGIA GALINI, Αγία Γαλήνη Ρεθύμνου

Agia Galini is a large village, at the end of Rethymno to the Libyan Sea. Located at the limits of Heraklion prefecture, built amphitheatrical on an east faced rocky extreme, and it has a great environment and a wonderful climate. The community is classified as a rural lowland settlement, with an area of 11,812 km ² and a weighted average altitude of 25 (20 the settlement). Distanced about 55 km from Rethymno and 68 km from Heraklion.Agia Galini is a popular seaside resort, located 61km southeast of Rethymno and 68km southwest of Iraklion, on the southern shores of the valley of Amari. You can find excellent beaches, a beautiful fisherboats place and of course the traditional village . All of those , attract many of tourists from all over the world every year. Before the ‘60s and ‘70s the village was a small fishing village. But later, in '60s, Agia Galini and matala became a favorite destination for the hippies. After the 80s it was a famous place for all kind of tourists !
Agia Galini is a very beautiful village, with a traditional Greek character, which offers everything you need such as many hotels and appartments, food and bars , dancing clubs and other entertainment like sports / watersports . Agia Galini is about one hour from Rethymnon away.

Hi Alex, looks very nice. just this morning i looked at holidaycheck. looking for very small hotels, only breakfast. no more all in. when I was at crete before I was in hotel orion and eva bay, now I like walking around, havings pita and frappe. And raki of course. Have a nice time but stay safe

Wow, nice video, love Crete... and Agia Galini is one of my favourite places. I usually stay at Aktion Rooms in Agia Galini for a week or two & travel around also. I will definitely be back to Crete when this is over. It is my favourite destination. 👍

We got married by the local mayor up that hill where the theatre is 21 years ago, I think it was an empty soap factory then. Beautiful village came many times until the euro doubled the price of every thing so stopped coming to Crete
