Here are three quick tips that you can put into practice straight away to make your leaves and stems look convincing - but still loose and free.

I decided to start today's painting with a quote from Thoreau, which I came across recently. If you're keen to sit down to a creative session but you aren't sure what to paint, putting a favourite quote or poem in the centre of the page can help you to get started! Having written the quotation out using a small brush I then surround it with leaves and flowers, referring to a page of flowers of different shapes and designs that I had already painted - another idea to help take the stress out of deciding what to paint!
