Thanks for a really thoughtful, insightful review. I'm sure I would drool over the UHQRs, based on the ones I do own (Exodus, Aja, Goucho, and even the Kind of Blue 33rpm UHQR). But I'm quite happy with the recent Craft/OJCs, and my $300 could buy a lot of other records.

I watched your Waltz for Debby UHQR video, too. Both are terrific. Keep up the great work!!

I’ve got the Craft OJC of both Debby and the Vanguard and they are very different. The bass on the UHQR is detailed…detailed….detailed. I can’t get over it. It’s almost like it should’ve been the Scott L Trio LOL. What about those brush sticks? It’s the best I’ve ever heard brush sticks. The UHQR is absolutely worth the price of entry.

Is the UHQR better than the OJC = YES
Is it $110 better = NO

would never buy a clear vinyl instead of a black vinyl version. also think the box looking like a book is a little ridiculous. but hifi people tend to have not a very good taste anyway...

Amazing box? I would say 90% of the people hate that big box. That box is just a excuse to drive up the price. Reasonable price? $150 for a new record is reasonable? This is more than anyone else is charging. Stoughton tip on jackett using original photos.Other companies are doing this. Clarity vinyl is actually cheaper than balck vinyl. Also a record that has a low noise floor plays quiet. I have plenty of records that play as quiet as the UHQR I own. There is no such thing as quieter than quiet. They have a guy presiing the records one at a time but there is still a number of defects just like when the machine does it. In fact my copy has a couple of ticks/pops that should not be there. I bought mine when they use to cost $100 and I thought that was too much. But people like you on You Tube kept bragging about how great the price was so Chad jacked it up another $50. Keep it up maybe you can get the price even higher. I am sick of people pushing the FOMO factor. Chad himself said "buy now or cry later". What owner of a company says this? Somone pushing a over priced product thats who. The reasons I've given prove the price is too high. The John Coltrane Blue Train comes in a Stoughton tip on jacket with double vinyl for $52. This proves my point. Keep your box and let the machine press it. There is no reason for this price.

I read it and I don't believe it. everything has its price. you can buy a Rolex for $80, 000 and a Casio watch for $100. all will show the same time. for someone who wants beautiful packaging and a de lux edition, they will pay $150. he has a Rolex in a beautiful box. you can also buy a casio that is wrapped in paper. ojc plays well, uhqr good + + but you also have all the details of the process and a beautiful box. In 20 years, when AP will no longer exist, you will be able to show your grandchildren how beautifully they used to release records and take care of the art of the whole. they treated music lovers very seriously. nowadays hifi companies don't do this. they produce things that cost a lot and don't play like good vintage ones. they sell cables for millions and people believe it instead of reaching for a good edition. everything you hear is included there.
