Which side goes on the window, the side from which the backing film was taken or the open side. The backing film either protects the finished surface or the side to be placed on the window. Either makes sense but probably one is correct. Over size and cutting to fit is ok to completely cover the window but cutting to a size which leaves a few mms around it makes removing the bubbles easier and to remove it easier.

What can you place on the window or film to keep these edges down. I've tried placing something heavy over the film for a few days and hot air from a hair dryer
