The inside of the traveler's is actually an afterlife where dead Guardians go to. The Traveler getting back the light it used to revive Lightbearers.
The cayde we saw is just a manifestation of his Light which means he's is still dead

Them bringing back Cayde is the worst thing they could have done thats how you know they are desperate for money before the game dies, it makes og's like me not care for the story anymore since everything we cared about dosnt matter anymore just so they can get more money from new people who didnt know the story before hand. Only good thing about brining him back is that the voice actor will get more money which he rightfully deserves but i feel bringing him back will cause the same mistake star wars did with bringing luke back in the newest trilogy and make his character horrible just tarnishing reputation. this is definitely the nail in the coffin for me being a destiny fan i was really mad when they deleted the campaigns and the raids i stopped playing but still keep up with the story but sadly this decision has ruined destiny 2 for me hopefully in the future destiny 3 wont do stuff like this
