We homeschool too. Instead of getting new school clothes, we just a first day of school outfit. Usually just a tee and inexpensive jeggings or pants from walmart.

If they run through the sketchbooks and you don’t care much about the quality of the paper, you can make drawing books from printer paper and take it to an office supply store to have it bound for just a few dollars. Or just hole punch the paper in place in a 3 ring binder.

I enjoyed the school haul! Video requests: rendering the suet, where you store school supplies - both the ones in use and the extras, and your homemade laundry soap :)

Also the crayons that have the colors for skin tones are difficult to find as well and are cheaper and available at back to school time. I have teachers in my family that teach in city schools w many ethnicities and I also try and get lots of them and many boxes of crayons and glue sticks for the stock in the kindergartens and first grade room. It is nice when they color a family portraits colors that match their skin tones. Those crayon boxes at back to school prices are 3-4 x regular crayon colors.
I always suggest to people if the start each time they go to target Or Walmart pick up extras of things to have for the teacher closet because lots of families have difficult times and need money for food. The St. Louis public school has started just giving the students clear backpacks w all supplies for free in the beginning of the year of basics.

I picked up most school supplies at our local dollar store. Sharpies and other nane brands.

I make my own dishwasher detergent, 1 C salt 1 C Washing Soda 1C Baking Soda 1/4 C Citric Acid =1Tablespoon per wash I would suggest making 5 x the amount and storing it. I also use Homemade Dryer Sheets Add small clothes to 1/2 gallon jar ( I use baby wash clothes but you can use old towels cut into squares, flannel clothes cut up ) 1 1/2 cups Distilled Water 2 cups white vinegar 20-40 drops essential oil ( I like orange and lemon grass) mix well pour slowly over clothes in jar ( stuff full) store with airtight lid. As a former first grade teacher I can attest that Ticonderoga pencils are the best. They sharpen well and the graphite does not break and fall out. It is pronounced Ty-con-der-o-ga, like the fort. I also love those primary journals for creative writing. Good choice!

Staples is a great place for school supplies. I buy enough for my daughter’s 2 semester at college +.2 summer sessions and a little for me as well.
