Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek Islands and also the 5th largest in the Mediterranean Sea.

Crete offers interesting history, as it was ruled by Greece, Rome, the Byzantine Empire, Andalusian Arabs, the Venetian Republic and also the Ottoman Empire.
The Island itself is mostly mountainous, but also offers beautiful Beaches and spectacular Gorges.
