Hi all. What did you think of the monthly spend? Was it reasonable or expensive? We are very frugal with what we spend and don’t drink a lot of alcohol when out

We have just returned from a little fact finding trip to Lovina, other than the crazy traffic, we love the place, it is very high on our "lets sell up and retire there" list. Being from the US (Vegas) the one thing I did find difficult to get my head around was the no tipping culture.
We rented a villa for a week just off the beach and discovered a few local beach bar/restaurants where the food was amazing. For two of us, a shared starter, two mains and a couple of beers each (Bintang Radlar has become my weakness) was way under $20 US and the owners were so friendly. I ended up leaving the equivalent of $25, the lady chased us down and tried to explain that we had left to much, this really was my crash course into the Balinese culture and honestly, there are two places in the world I can now say I can physically feel the stress of the world leave me, the fist is St John USVI and the other is Lovina.

As always, lovely to hear your soothing voice & great smile which conveys optimism. Thanks for the expense breakdown at the end to give further insight to cost of living in Sanur. As you’ve said, everyone’s expenses will vary according to lifestyle…Phone, internet, power etc so much cheaper than Oz. Love Bali but it’s a big step though especially as a single 69 year old lady having lost a lot of my super thru either bad investment with changing housing market …now appraising what I want in retirement. Thanks again.

Fantastic video Richard. Wonderfully presented. You were born (retired 😀) to do these vlogs. Best compliment I can give you, is that you are the Bob Ross of YouTube. Please continue and ignore the trolls.

Thank you. It's definitely cheaper.. As retirees or pensioners we can get free Doctor visits and cheap prescriptions so we have no health insurance. We have solar panels and pay $100 a month for electricity in Summer. We use Dental students at our local university and shop around for specials. Our Aldi moblile plan is $17. If you are frugal it's not too bad as we live in the regional NSW. We spend more here as we run cars, pay for fuel, rates, so we never get to have massages or rarely eat out. Your lifestyle is definitely better. On the other hand paying 24 years of rent upfront ekk. We lived in Vietnam for 3 months and were able to rent monthly, so I can't see why this wouldn't work for villas in Bali. I would love to live in Bali for 2 to 3 months every year.

Hi Richard & Karen
Thank you for the video very informative. One thing I am very interested in is the villa insurance policy like where did you get it from and what does it include?
Many thanks and looking forward to seeing more videos ❤
