This fight timeline(s) is just insane, I for one hopes that next ultimates writing goes same way, because it both connect the raiding players scene and people who just like to watch but are interested into FFXIV's lores and MSQ. Such a cool way to add a puzzle/riddle in a fight :D

Such a refreshing concept for the tank LB 3 use in ultimates instead of using it to safe yourself you are using it to save your friend dynamis at its best!

The best part is that it's specifically a tank LB3 that saves Haurchefant and it's not a heal check.

If you've played Thordan EX you'll know that the bolt that killed him also decreases healing potency. Obviously, since you can't heal him, you mitigate the damage instead.

Damn dude out of all the ultimates this one is the hypest right now. I don't even think Ucob was this hype when I was doing it.

While this "lore" mostly just exist as a gimmick for the new crazy phases we get, I feel like it may also make sense as an alternate reality. With Haurchefaunt alive, I'd argue our WoL would be less driven to pursue Thordan right away. On top of that, my guess is that Thordan knew that it would be easier for us to sway public opinion in our favour with both Aymeric AND Haurchefaunt alive, given that they are both on opposite sides of the spectrum (Haurchefaunt being a bastard son would probably make it more likely for us to convince the common folk to help against Thordan and to stop the war).

I think that's what drives Thordan to turn the dragons into his minions, instead of outright killing them. He knows that the WoL, his comrades, Aymeric & Haurchefaunt pose too much of a threat to his ambitions, so he just goes extra crazy.

You know what, though? Since time travel is real in the XIV universe (Alexander, the Crystal Tower, G’raha, Omega, etc) that means… there’s literally a universe where Haurchefant survived 🥺

So.. saving Haurchefant was kind of the bad ending maybe? Somehow with the way events transpire and choices made, Thordan ends up becoming more powerful. I wonder why or how. Maybe it's because you end up taking longer to get to Azys Lla. And then Thordan's sword Ascalon doesnt just consume Lahabrea, but Lahabrea and Igeyorhm. I would imagine Thordan and the knights 12 managed to pull through against them and defeat both.

Then that means Estinien never transforms into Nidhogg who runs away to rebuild his strength. That power just continues to belong to Thordan, who then moves on to the summit of Sohm Al to also defeat the other great wyrm, Hraesvalgr.

What a crazy alternate storyline. I wonder if we'll ever get to peer into other alternate universes within the MSQ or have bonus stories like this. Since we can't influence the story outcomes, it would add some excellent flavor to be able to still experience if different choices were made.

If they keep on doing this wild timey wimey stuff for the next ultimate, I’m calling that it’s going to be Shadowbringers Ultimate where it’s a What If the WoL turned into a Sin Eater scenario, and you’ll also have to fight Sin Eater versions of the Scions.

yeah, i still remember it now

there's always a reason why YoshiP decided to give an Ultimate a checkpoint
and this is the reason, a Brutal difficulty on every phase with the mechanic over mechanic over mechanic. and also haurcefant moment, and yes you're stuck in the time loop and Thordan just wipe you on 2nd phase

So for whatever reason saving him makes it so we don't stop Thordan at the Singulairity Reactor, and now we're in the middle of a battle between the Heavensward and the dragons at the Aery. That's awesome.

This fight isn't disappointing and has been the most fun out of the 4 to watch prog.
