I absolutely love that when Toby was roasting you he not only got your cadence, your tone of voice but he got down your arms overhead playing with your hair gesture. That was awesome!

The phrase "I do my research on the Internet" makes me recoil, because for way too many people the phrase means "I find reinforcement for what I already believe or want to believe." So I very much appreciate your emphasis on reliable internet sources, and naming a few of them.

With goats its hard to get a goat that can be organically managed as far as parasites. There really are strong genetics out there that show a strong parasite resistance but when you purchase from show culls (like we do) you get animals that are just not built for that so as the herd develops you can breed more toward resistance... however chemically managed herds can't just convert quickly. You guys are doing the best you can by your goats and that matters a lot. It's good stewardship.

We personally don't have the time to give herbals on a schedule to try to manage parasites so we don't. We DO however have animals that have only ever needed deworming once in their lives, and would love to breed more of that in!! Working on it!

Ohmy. Toby imitating you was priceless. Kids. Keep you honest. And take your date moments where you can grab them. Life goes by so fast. Bless you and yours.

Jess … I have a roux hack and it’s LIFE CHANGING. You put your flour in a dry cast iron Dutch oven over medium heat and stir the flour as it toasts. Once the flour turns the color of light beach sand, then take the pot off the heat and stir in your fat. Put it in a 350 degree oven covered and let it cook (undisturbed) for 45 minutes to an hour until the roux is a beautiful copper penny color. Then, take it out of the oven and proceed with your gumbo prep as desired. It works FABULOUSLY and I don’t have to stand there and baby sit my roux forever. Try it, I promise you’re gonna love it.

Jess last year we had a colic scare on Christmas Eve. When our horse pooped 💩 I was so excited and said it was the best Christmas present ever. My family keeps asking if I want poop for Christmas again this year 😂. I apparently get excited for poop too. Glad I'm in good company ❤

Hey Jess, Iver is not strictly a chemical treatment. It comes from a natural soil bacteria. My sister, holistic health coach of human and animal, did a really deep dive and it’s something about the bacteria stimulating some enzyme or something like that. She knows way more than me, lol. But she has no issues with using it for her cow calf operation. She could explain it and you would totally get it I think, whereas my head spins a little. 😊

I’ve been sidetracked for some time and haven’t been gardening or watching my favorite creators on YouTube. This year that fire in my soul has been rekindled, praise God ❤ Now I’m binge watching and getting caught up with ya’ll 😊
I hadn’t realized how much I missed you guys until I started watching again.
You are so informative and honest about your homestead lifestyle. I always learn from every single video you post.
Thank you so much for your support in those of us that are either thinking about homesteading, dreaming about it, planning it, or living it. You are very encouraging and funny 😂
You say things in a way that even those of us that are just learning to garden can understand. And most importantly you are so inspirational ❤
Thank you for shining your light and sharing your life with us.
God Bless your family❤

The poop convo was hilarious!!!! They both just stared at you like “omgosh she is excited about poop”. My family looks at me like that too from time to time when I get excited about a chicken laying their first egg or I squeal when I start harvesting things out of the garden. I love it!!! Yall are just like the rest of us goofballs!!

As a guy, I would love to meet Mr. Roots and Refuge (Jeremiah). He seems like he would be great to get to know, and I bet there is a lot more up in his head than he lets on.

Blessings to you both!
