I can totally relate to this! Lol! I have had this experience with others and have seen other youtubers do this. The only thing I truly debate about on YouTube is religion. But I pick and choose my battles and I don't yell at people. I  try to explain calmly, friendly, and rationally about my beliefs to other people. I don't think I'm going to change their mind, but if I can give them a different, more positive look on God, then to me,  I haven't wasted my time. I say there's nothing wrong with debates as long as you are respectful and don't lash out at people saying- "You're an idiot, you don't know what you're talking about! BLAH! BLAH! (insert inappropriate word) BLAH BLAH!" That's when I believe a debate becomes silly, because the message you're trying to present isn't going to get across to the other person if you just yell at them. You know? :)
