Route 93 North and South (The Central Artery) gets dismantled as part of the final phases of Boston's infamous "Big Dig" project that spanned nearly 20 years in total. (16mm color film negative used, in the days long before DSLR and GoPro cameras!)

It's crazy to see how light traffic was in 2002 compared to what it is now... and this was DURING construction.

CA/T stands for Central Artery/Tunnel. The official name of the Big Dig was Central Artery/Tunnel Project. Everyone called it the Big Dig, because how would you pronounce CA/T? “Cat?” That would be silly. And they definitely couldn’t abbreviate it CATP or CA/TP, because some wise guys in Boston would inevitably pronounce it “cat pee.”
