Her hand drops to her side as her heart beats one final time, still longing for the life she had lost.
As her breath sighs past her lips only one thought echoed in her mind: *I love you.*
Then her eyes closed, and her life came to an end.

The Vessel faced The Kraken, the False Embodiment of Death.
The Vessel wouldn’t survive. He knew that.
But he no longer cared.
Perhaps he never cared. He had never been one to see himself as a person of value, even if the others tried to convince him otherwise.
His eyes closed for a moment. He had time to reflect before the final trial. The calm before the storm, some might call it, but the Vessel knew he had already entered the storm, and he was approaching the eye itself.
He reflected. That was all he could do as the others escaped.
He remembered the old and the new. The joyful and the unfortunate.
It was amusing. Just two weeks ago, he was hardly even able to bring a single shard of his memory to mind, but now he could see it all as clear as day.
The roar of the Kraken shook him from his reflection.
The Kraken was ready to kill. The Vessel was ready to ascend and die.
And so he offered the gods everything. His body, his soul, his heart, his mind, and his memories.
He didn’t care what it cost, as long as he could kill the Kraken and make sure the others were safe.
And so the Vessel became the Dragon.
The Kraken roared. The Dragon roared.
The Dragon’s humanity faded. Or was he never human in the first place?
There was only one last train of thought as the battle soon escalated.
