James Webb Telescope Discovery Of Artificial Lights On Proxima B

In the solar system closest to our own, strange things have been going on. Only four light years separate us from Proxima Centauri, and for longer than that, astronomers have been noticing some peculiar signals, on a planet in the system, Proxima B. The most brilliant minds in the space community have been rattled by these strange anomalies, known as artificial lights.

What are they, though? Does this suggest that there is intelligent life on the planet?

Do we have another civilization in our interstellar neigbourhood?

It's definitely a possibility. Late in 2020, a signal from the direction of Proxima Centauri, our nearest neighbor star known as BLC One, was found. To make sure the signal isn't just an echo of our own civilization, which is usually what they turn out to be, it is still being analyzed. So why don't we simply examine the planets in Proxima Centauri to determine if there is civilization there?

I've always wondered why astronomers assume all life across the universe must follow the same evolution as they do on earth. For all we know, the universe isn't uniform and there's highly complex intelligent life out that that follows a completely different law of physics or biology than anything humans could imagine.

The fact is, our ability to detect these planets is based upon their orbit being aligned between our view and their star. Most planets will not cut across that view. Thus what we have found is the tip of an iceberg. Finding so many planets that are almost candidates means the perfect planets are out there, and likely not that far away.

This all assumes the aliens living on Proxima have eyes and need light. If they used echo location like bats, they could be an advanced civilisation that would be more suited to their dark surroundings.

It wasn’t so long ago that astronomers thought that there were advanced civilisations on Mars and Venus.
They are often over optimistic. Proxima B appears to be quite different from Earth. Nevertheless in view of the immensity of the galaxy, there are likely at least a million close Earth Analog Planets with microbial life and a few with advanced civilisations.

The James Webb can image artificial light coming from a continent, so if America were on a planet around Proxima b, the Webb could image and detect it.
