I got the "Extract Files" option by using a simple software called WinRar. If anyone is having trouble getting the files for your resource pack, install WinRar

There's no need to do all that version folder copy/paste stuff from the beginning, all you need to do is have Optifine, rename the mcpatcher folder (it has the sky textures) to "optifine" and have the custom sky option "on" 😄. Once you do that just place the resource pack above any other resource pack you're using or just use that one on top of the default pack 🙃

I need to get a sky in my already existing texture pack. My questions:
1. I need to find a good looking sky
2. Can i just paste the png in the environments-folder and name it to 'sky' or something like that, or do i need to do some 'magical stuff'? I would be very please if someone could help me out with this.

btw if you dont see the sky but have optifine go into video setting then quality then turn on custom sky then BOOM enjoy

there's a WAY, WAY simpler method.
put the pack with the sky and the one you want to put the sky into side by side.
go to assets, then minecraft for both of them.
you should see the mcpatcher or optifine files there.
take the mcpatcher/optifine file from the pack you want the sky from and copy it onto your desktop.
then, go into the OTHER pack and delete the mcpatcher/optifine file
then drag the mcpatcher/optifine file from your desktop to your pack you want to put the sky IN.

So, using this method, can u adapt the versions of the texture pack? I mean i have a texture pack only working in 1.8, if i do this will it work in, for example, 1.12?

actually worked dang, only issue is the starting screen that pans around the environment just shows up gray but thats fine.

can you do this if you are already using a texture pack? like combining the texture of blocks and weapons of one texture pack with the sky of another texture pack?

When I drag everything in the texture pack, it says “can’t rename and access denied” I also can’t delete block in the texture pack

There is no need to put all defould minecraft stuff into that resourcepack.
Just keep using the defoult pack and put your sky resource-pack ontop of it.
I created my self a skybox, where a kite 🪁is flying in the sky.
